Rona & Mures win on Bonfire Night

Our Bonfire Night ‘Fireworks on the Board’ Blitz was won by Hendon’s Cristian Mures and newcomer Jonathan Rona, who had the better of their individual encounter. Prizes for top Hendon player went to Salvatore Pepe and new Hendon members Isaac Sanders (pictured) and Tim Rogers.

Following hard on the heels of our recent successes in the League, 25 players turned out to play in our Bonfire Night Blitz.

Hendon’s Cristian Mures (winning £20) and visitor Jonathan Rona (from Australia, £20) 5½/6, emerged victorious; Rona had the better of their individual encounter, but lost on time in a winning position. Cristian had a bare king. Result: draw!

The Hendon Fiver(s) went to Salvatore Pepe (£5) and new Hendon members Isaac Sanders (£5) and Tim Rogers (£5).

• 1-2: Cristian Mures, Jonathan Rona (5½/6) Prize: £20 each
• 3-8: Isaac Sanders, Tim Rogers, Salvatore Pepe, Shane McCabe, Robert Feather, David Bluestone (4/6) Prize: £5 each to Isaac, Tim and Salvatore for highest Hendon players
