Owing to the coronavirus outbreak, Hendon Chess Club has decided to suspend all activities, resuming no earlier than Monday 20th April 2020.
On 16th March, following ECF advice issued over the weekend, the Middlesex League issued a statement advising that all League matches before 20th April should be postponed. Their current intention is to resume from 20th April, and try to reschedule all remaining matches by 30th June, but clearly that is not certain to be possible, and the situation will need to be reassessed nearer the time.
In line with this suspension, all other Hendon activities, including the monthly blitz tournament and social chess, are suspended, resuming no earlier than 20th April. This suspension may be extended, depending on advice nearer the time from public health authorities, the ECF and the League.
Chess is a wonderful game, but life is more important. We thank all Hendon members and opposing clubs for their understanding, and we wish everyone in the global chess community good health in these troubled times.
